The COCONUT was introduced from Polynesia in the 16th century.
Known as the tree of life, because of its many uses. The water is good for drinking, ( it has a dirutic cleaning effect ), the hard pulp grated and squeezed for cooking and used as cream on fruits.

The dried flesh, when dried in ovens, is used to produce cooking oil, margarine, soap and its also
used in many creams and lotions.
The dried fibre remaining is used for animal feed.
The leaves are used for plaiting of hats, empty shells can be a good material for handcraft.
